Appendix 1: THE MULTI-RACIAL DECLINE OF CITIES IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - A PHOTOGRAPHIC ESSAY NEW YORK CITY Please note: This photographic essay is not meant to imply that all areas of the cities in question resemble the photographs. These pictures merely reflect regions, or suburbs, where White Flight has been the most extreme. According to the 2000 US census, 65% of New York's population is non-White. This percentage is even higher in the city center. Hidden from the view of tourists visiting the glitzy Empire State Building, are the residential areas of New York's non-White population: These areas are particularly prominent on Long Island around the Jamaica area.
Below: Abandoned Buildings by 125th Street in Manhattan itself.
