These pictures merely reflect regions, or suburbs, where White Flight has been the most extreme. According to the 2000 US Census, 74 % of Washington D.C.'s population is non-White. The daytime White population has been forced to live in the outlying districts of Maryland and Northern Virginia, and the city center at night is abandoned to the Nonwhites. Hidden from the tourist highlights of the White House, the Capitol and monuments, is the reality of life in this 74% non-White city:
